So usually I bring the tripod to cons and ignore it like an embarrasing relative, but this time I actually hauled the thing around to great effect - all but one of these shots was taken under pretty low lighting conditions and needed a tripod to maintain stability.

Some of the shots were long exposures, and the others were used a technique called dragging the shutter. Said technique involves shooting with a long shutter to expose the background, but a flash on to "freeze" and light up the person in the foreground. Basically, it means the difference between a standard flash photograph (bright person, virtually black background) and one where there's a much more visible background. Anyway, I was experimenting with it and I really like the results.

It was cold, but Ryuu and others were real troopers for hanging outside for these pics and holding still enough for them to work. As for the indoor shots, well, we found an abandoned corner of the hotel (well, abandoned except for the curiosity seekers who arrived and for some reason thought what we were doing was interesting) and fired away. Anyway, thanks to all and enjoy the pics.
